1) What the heck is a success coach? (Do I have to drink lattes to use one?)
|
| |
A success coach is someone that helps you achieve greater success and fulfillment in your career, business, relationships or whichever area of life you choose. A success coach, like a sports coach, enables you to reach your full potential. You and your coach will identify your dreams and desires and quite possibly the fears or invisible walls that have kept you from reaching your full potential in the past. And, no…sipping lattes is not mandatory.

2) What is the difference between a Coach and a Therapist? |
| |
Therapy is therapy and coaching is coaching. While both seek to support you and help you overcome obstacles to reaching your dreams, their respective approaches are different. Coaching sometimes explores the past but not to the same depth as therapy. Coaching is focused more on the present and the goal is to help you design a future that is in alignement with your values and passion while simultaneously moving forward. Therapy, conversely, tends to focus on a person’s past and trauma while seeking healing that is needed to be able to move forward.

3) Can't I just talk to my friends? |
| |
Of course you can talk to your friends. And even while you are being coached, you should continue talking to your friends; they are a great source of support and will complement your coaching. However, friends often tend to be just that, “supportive” and do not challenge us in the ways we need to overcome obstacles. Sometimes they can even give well-intentioned advice that takes us in the wrong direction. Coaches are not simply supportive people with good intuition; they are well-trained professionals that use proven techniques to spur the process of helping you move forward in a direction that is in line with your longer term goals, fulfillment and vision.

4) I'm pretty happy; do I NEED coaching? |
| |
That question is best answered by a question: Are you as happy as you want to be? If the answer to that is, “no, but that’s life, right?” then it is worth your while to consider coaching. Happiness is relative, of course, and each of us knows best whether or not we are living, or at least trying to live the version of life that will make us feel most fulfilled. If you feel you are trapped, resigned or if you are just curious about how you could be more successful and fulfilled, it is time to consider coaching. Today. |

6) What are coaching sessions with Kristen like? (How long? How often?) |
| |
Each coaching session is approx. 45 minutes long and is typically done by phone. Many clients have commented that they find there is greater focus in meeting by phone, because the words stand alone. They have also noted how convenient it is to not have to travel to an office once a week. And of course geographical location is no longer a barrier – Kristen has coaching clients in Toronto, New York, Virginia, Texas, other states in the U.S. as well as the U.K.
Coaching is most effective when sessions are conducted at a frequency of 2-3 times a month.
During the period between sessions, clients have the option of follow up communication by email and/or preparing a coaching call prep form for the next session. This email interaction and the prep form give each client an opportunity to reflect on the progress of the week, reassess goals and ideas in light of new realizations and identify any topics they would like to focus on during the next session.
Clients determine the topic of the sessions by prioritizing the issues on which they want to focus (i.e. career, relationships, etc.). Coaching is about forward progress, so steps and leaps toward the life you want will happen immediately if you are dedicated to the process.

7) How soon can I expect to see results? For that matter, what kind of results should I expect? |
| |
Much as with sports, the person being coached will get as much out of coaching as he or she puts into it. Kristen encourages her clients to reach big. She requires absolute honestly and while being supportive, will not coddle. She will challenge you to become the person you want to become…that maybe you stopped believing, for whatever reason, you could still become. Nothing is sadder than the death of a dream or holding yourself small. And nothing is more satisfying than witnessing the rebirth of a dream or someone coming fully into their power. You can achieve that which you thought you could no longer realize. And you can achieve that which you never even dreamed you could achieve. |

10) Is coaching like DSL? Once I get it, will I feel that I can't live without it? |
| |
If effective it will not be like DSL. The goal of coaching is to expand your potential and free you of the restraints that keep you from pursuing the life you really want. The goal of coaching is NOT to just offer you a crutch or to coddle you when you feel down. Effective coaching should inspire confidence and naturally, independence. There is no stating what the right amount of time for coaching should be; each person’s needs are different. However, it can be stated that Kristen’s coaching services will lead to greater freedom and independence.
